Son Bleda is not a conventional luxury hotel, but a charming country hotel situated on a hill embedded in the massive cultural landscape of the Tramuntana Mountain range, a UNESCO World heritage site.

The House & Location

Son Bleda was founded in the 12th century as a monastery. A tiny chapel with moorish archers and a medieval font are to be found in the beautiful patio and are remnants of that period. In the 17th century Son Bleda was restored to the manor as we know it today.

Dieter Rahmel acquired the property in 1994 and it took him nearly eight years to lovingly refurbish the building and its surroundings, which included the gardens, the addition of a swimming pool and the accomplishment of stylish rooms, spacious apartments, Junior Suites and Suites with different characters, all decorated with artifacts from the proprietors personal collection. The rooms are either furnished with antique or tasteful contemporary art. The Son Bleda grounds are spread over 2 000 square meters and are truly breathtaking!

Son Bleda lies directly on the scenic road (MA-10) between Deià and Sóller which is busy during the day but quiet at nighttime. Directly from here you can hike on splendid footpaths, for example to the famous ‚Pedra en Sec´(Dry Stone Route) and the Tramuntana mountains, or discover the islands beauty by car. Golf clubs and mundane Palma are within easy reach in around 30 minutes. Small inviting coves and beaches for snorkeling and swimming are near by. For beachgoers who like to have restaurants in the vicinity will find that in Port de Sóller, for those seeking a more wild and romantic beach will find them in the bays of Alconassar, Luc Alcari and Cala Deià with their rugged cliffs.

Natural Gardens and Pool area — Son Bleda Estate

60‘000 square meters of untreated landscape with over one thousand olive, carob and almond trees, an orange and lemon garden are within the estate. With a spectacular view stretching over 15km towards the Tramuntana mountains and across the valley of Sóller. The swimming pool is situated on the hill amongst pine and olive trees, with a terrace facing the seas endless horizon and Cala Deià.

The Loggia

The spacious loggia has a fireplace and Mediterranean seating which stays cool during the peak of summer. On the rare cold and chilly days, the crackling of the fireplace and classical music will make time fly. Upon request we offer cooking classes and wine-tasting in our open kitchen for a minimum of 6 people.

Restaurante Tramuntana Lodge

Our Mediterranean luncheons and dinners are served under ancient olive trees while you witness the spectacular color pallet of this impressive mountain range.

The Tramuntana Lodge is divided into three inviting seating terraces where you can sample our homemade cakes or enjoy a drink, alternatively sit in one of our many romantic and secluded seating places scattered around the property . . . a truly breathtaking atmosphere. In our Bodega you will find a selection of Mallorca wines and from other selected domains.

The Mallorca Gift Shop – Mediterranean lifestyle to take home

In our little gift shop you will find antiques, rare jewelry, typical island bags and clothing, our home made orange and lemon jams and the finest Mallorca salt “Flor de Sal”. Should your luggage space be limited for these souvenirs, we can ship them at a reasonable price directly from our warehouse in Germany.

Son Bledas Surroundings

Son Bleda is ideally situated for hiking (at GR-221) and mountain biking excursions across the Tramuntana mountain range. The small bohemian costal village of Deià is easily accessible via a clearly signposted romantic trail leading through pine forests and jaw dropping sea views. Typical island markets can be found in Sóller on a Saturday, and only 30 minutes away on a Sunday in Santa Maria and Consell. The indoor food market “Mercat de Olivar” in the heart of Palma is open on Monday to Saturday from 7am to 2pm.

Just 2km away you will find many picturesque coves for swimming, like Cala Deià and the beaches and coves around Port de Valldemossa. It is a fascinating experience to just stroll around Son Bledas mountain world, enjoying the endless fabulous views of the sea, mountains, valleys and the highest mountain on the island, the Puig Mayor. Discovering Mallorca from its finest side!  Should the way back seem too far for you, you can hop on the local bus service “Nord Balear” which runs regularly and stops right outside Son Bleda.

The Art Nouveau train station in Sóller has a historic railway (Tren de Sóller) and with its vintage wooden carriages link Soller with Palma. The scenic route runs along a steep and narrow gauge, passing through 13 tunnels and a viaduct.  A memorable experience not to be missed.
